The Apple iPhone is easily one of the most profoundly improved devices that Apple has ever put out. In one sense you can of course think of it as the next turning of the wheel, as simply another iPhone. But in another sense, it is a whole new device, complete with some amazing technology and features you have never seen before. The fast-charging battery is a long-awaited improvement, and a 48 megapixel camera will deliver some of the most beautiful photographs possible with a phone.

The design of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro is one of the sleekest and most beautiful yet. At a mere 206g, it is also one of the lightest phones around, not just in Apple’s range but anywhere. It has a display of 6.1 inches, and it’s an always-on display so that’s a huge upgrade too. It is also quite a powerful device, with the A15 Bionic chip. One of the most exciting additions here in terms of usability is the Dynamic Island, which can change depending on activity. The refresh rates also change a lot, so you can be sure of just the right display at all times. All in all, it’s a great-designed smartphone most people will love to hold.
The 14 Pro comes with two cameras. The primary camera has a lot of variance in what it can provide. You’ve got a 48 MP, f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 12 MP, f/2.8, 77mm (telephoto), 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120? (ultrawide), so there is plenty of choice depending on what you are hoping to achieve. The secondary camera, meanwhile, has the options of 12 MP, f/1.9, 23mm (wide) or SL 3D, (depth/biometrics sensor). So whichever you are using for the purpose at hand, you can be sure of having great options every time.
One of the starkest upgrades is with the video capabilities of this phone. Those cameras certainly do work hard, and when you are trying to capture video you will find that the quality can be truly amazing. In terms of the specifics, you’re looking at 4K@24/25/30/60fps, 1080p@25/30/60/120/240fps, 10-bit HDR, Dolby Vision HDR (up to 60fps), ProRes, Cinematic mode (4K@30fps), stereo sound rec. So whatever it is that you are hoping to be able to do here, chances are this smartphone can help you do it. Strong video also requires good display specs, so let’s see how that pans out here.
The display of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro is one of the best of any smartphone in the world. The physical display of the screen itself, as we have seen already, is 6.1 inches. This is a good size for most people - not so big as to be unwieldy, nor so small that you can’t proudly see what you have created with that amazing camera. It’s got a resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels with a 19.5:9 ratio, so plenty of scope for watching movies of your own or others. This display is easily one of the most attractive elements of the device, so that is something to be aware of here.
This is also one of the most powerful phones in the series so far. With an Apple A16 Bionic (4 nm) chipset combined with a hexa-core CPU, there is very little that this phone cannot handle, and you are going to be amazed with how much of a punch it can pack for the size of the device. You will easily be able to do a lot of different tasks at once without having to worry about overheating or putting the device under too much strain, and that is going to help a lot.
iPhones are not known for their great battery life, and the always-on display of the 14 Pro does mean that there is a tendency for the battery to drain even more than you might be used to. This phone comes with a Li-Ion, non-removable, battery which, according to advertised figures, has a fast charging mode of 50% in 30 min. Whether that pans out in reality will of course depend on usage, however.
You can get the Apple iPhone 14 Pro in a variety of colours, depending on taste. You have the ever-popular sleek all-black look, which is a particularly attractive colour for this device. Or you can choose the new gold option, which looks a little fancier and might suit some better. There is also a deep purple option and a silver option, too, if that is something you would prefer. And of course, there are financing options, should you need to go down that route.
All in all, it’s definitely one of the most exciting Apple iPhones yet, and one that is worth looking into if you are keen to make sure you have the right phone for your needs every single day.
