Similar budget Android phones with a few important differences.

The Samsung Galaxy A series is famous for offering its customers a lot of the features found in the more expensive phones but at a more affordable price point. So does the A15 5G or the A14 5G deliver the most value? Let’s take a look.

Introduction | A15 5G vs A14 5G

Both are budget phones – and by that we mean they cost considerably less than Samsung’s flagship range. Expect to pick one of these two up for under £150, with the A14 5G costing slightly less being a year older.

The power of superfast 5G is a nice upgrade to the smartphone experience and both phones include this feature.  From supersmooth gaming and streaming, to ultra fast sharing and downloading, 5G is a game changer – if of course you live or work in a 5G area.

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is the older of the two models, but that means less these days as most phones last for a good few years, thanks to manufacturers supporting them for longer with software updates and new features.

The A15 5G, being the new model, brings with it some nice upgrades to the camera and processor in particular.

Build and Design | A15 5G vs A14 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is stylish and lightweight despite its decent size battery and large display. Samsung engineers have taken their inspiration from their latest flagship phones in the S-series with a premium feel and flat-edged design.

The Galaxy A14 5G is similar but resembles other older A series phones from 202. It is still lightweight and has a textured back which adds grip and limits fingerprint smudges.

The inclusion of a headphone jack on both models is a great addition for music fans who still prefer a wired connection, and the fingerprint scanner protects the user’s data.

Both models are also both protected from minor drops and scratches with Gorilla Glass 5.

Display | A15 5G vs A14 5G

You’ll actually find a slightly larger display on the older Galaxy A14 5G at 6.6 inches, with the A15 5G being more compact at 6.5 inches. It’s a very minor difference though, being 0.1 of an inch.

Both have a 90 Hz refresh rate which is ideal for smooth app scrolling or gaming.

It’s a very similar viewing experience on both phones with bold colours and sharp detail but the Galaxy A15 5G boasts a Super AMOLED screen and better sound quality.

Due to the more dated design of the A14 5G, it has chunkier bezels which affects the overall look of the display surround but it’s perfectly functional.

Camera | A15 5G vs A14 5G

Both models have three cameras with a range of angles and AI editing features included.

There is a 50 megapixel main camera on the rear of both models which is perfect as your main shooter. Both models also have a 2MP macro camera for closeups.

The A14 5G’s third rear camera is a 2MP depth lens but the A15 5G switches this out for a more advanced 5MP Ultrawide lens.

Both models shoot 1080p video up to 30 frame per second and can also capture slow motion video at 120fps

For your selfies, you have a 13MP front camera on both models which can also film

When it comes to taking photos in low light, you’ll find that the A15 5G tends to produce better results.

Processor & Storage | A15 5G vs A14 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is impressive when it comes to speed – especially for a phone at this price – it’s not anywhere near as fast as something like the Samsung S24 Ultra but its a budget phone. It combines Octa-core processing power with 4GB of RAM.

The A15 5G also has 4GB of RAM but a faster Mediatek Dimensity 6100+ chipset versus the Mediatek Dimensity 700 version under the hood of the A14 5G.

To store all those memories, the Galaxy A14 5G comes with 64GB of internal storage and support for a MicroSD card for external storage of up to 1TB. The A15 5G has 128GB of internal storage and also supports a MicroSD card for external storage of up to 1TB.

Some regions also offer a 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage variant of the A15 5G.

Battery Life | A15 5G vs A14 5G

The Galaxy A14 5G’s long-lasting 5,000mAh battery should easily get you through the day and 15W wired fast charging is supported when you finally need to top it up.

The A15 5G also has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 25W superfast wired charging.

This battery size in a phone at this price point for both models is impressive but as you can see, the A15 5G supports faster charging.

Verdict | A15 5G vs A14 5G

There are enhancements in photography, look and feel and processing speed from the A14 5G to the A15 5G but is it enough to warrant the slightly higher price point? In our opinion, yes. Unless you already own an A14 5G and are happy with it.

You get what you pay for, and although both models are astonishing value for money compared with some of their competitors, that bit extra for the A15 5G gets you a better camera, faster processor and in my opinion, a nicer design. However if you are looking for a budget, functional phone and aren’t bothered about those extra tweaks, you likely won’t be disappointed with the A14 5G.
