As smartphones continue to get smarter, Samsung are billing their next S series launch as the ‘most intelligent mobile experience yet’.
At their upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday January 17th (6pm UK time), Samsung claim to be revolutionising the way we connect and create, courtesy of their new Galaxy Artificial Intelligence, as well as revealing the new S24 smartphone series – expect Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra models to be unveiled.
Who’s ready for a new era of mobile?! #SamsungUnpacked is going to be epic. Don’t miss out.

As there has been such a focus on Galaxy AI in the teaser trailers, let’s explore that element of the event before we investigate what else the latest S series of phones has in store. Samsung’s artificial intelligence platform is called Samsung Gauss and has three modules – Gauss Language, Gauss Code and Gauge Image. The language element assists in intuitive understanding and responses, with the code element for software development. Gauss Image is the third part of the package that allows the creation and modification of images using AI. Anyone with one of the latest Galaxy handsets knows how impressive some of Samsung’s current AI tools are (hello moon pics) so speculating on what else is possible is pretty exciting indeed. Plus if the name Gauss rings a bell, it is because the Generative AI Model is named after the very mathematician who established Normal Distribution Theory – considered to be the foundation of AI and Machine Learning (ML) technology – Carl Friedrich Gauss.
Wonjoon Choi, head of R&D at Samsung Mobile eXperience Business said,
“Galaxy AI is our most comprehensive intelligence offering to date, and it will change how we think about our phones forever.”
There are some serious life hacks expected in there too including “AI Live Translate Call”. This is basically like adding the subtitles to a movie you are watching in another language. Audio and text translations appear in real time so you can actually converse with people that speak other languages without ever having to sit through a language lesson.
Now let’s move onto the Galaxy S24 series which will also be revealed at the event. Rumours on the street are that they will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2400 chipset or a tailored Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 depending on the territory and model. Both processors are designed to optimise AI and machine learning which makes sense.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to ship with a new S-Pen stylus and feature a titanium shell to increase durability while reducing weight. The Ultra will also have more cameras than the other models in the series and a Quad Telephoto array. More on that at the event, but rumours are that this is made up of a 2X, 3X,5X and 10X zoom set up.
The Galaxy S24 is rumoured to have a 50MP camera and 6.2 inch screen, a 4000mAH battery and a familiar set of cameras found on the back of the S23.
Expect a 6.7 inch screen for the Galaxy S23 Plus which will have a higher QHD+ resolution and faster charging.
If you would like to be part of the action when Samsung’s AI upgrades and the new Galaxy series is unveied, the event will be streamed live on Samsung.com and Samsung’s YouTube channel beginning at 10am PST, 1pm EST, 6pm GMT and 7pm CET.
And if you’re thinking about upgrading your Samsung phone this year, don’t forget you can sell your current phone on Mozillion for up to £154 more compared to trading it in.
