How To Force Restart an iPhone

Here’s how to force restart your iPhone. This is particularly useful if your iPhone is frozen or unresponsive.
Follow these simple steps or watch our helpful video below.
- Locate the volume up and down buttons on your iPhone
- Quickly tap volume up button, then the volume down button and then hit the power button on the right side
- Depending on which iPhone model you have, you’ll now see the Apple logo almost immediately and the phone will restart (and that’s all you’ll need to do) or you will see the slide to power off toggle switch.
- If you do see the slide to power off toggle switch, slide that to power the phone off and the iPhone will power down.
- Wait 15 seconds then hold the power button until you see the Apple logo and when you see the lock screen appear, your iPhone has successfully restarted.
