Magic Editor, Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser and more enhanced editing features are now available to all Google Photos users without the need for a subscription.
Google’s Magic Editor AI photo editing software literally magically erases anything (or anyone) in your photo that you do not want in there, and enhances the bits you do. Rainy days can become sunny days, crowded beaches become deserted ones and blurry shots are a thing of the past.
If you have a Chromebook Plus with ChromeOS version 118+ or an Android phone with at least 3GB RAM running Android 8.0 / iOS 15 or higher, you can now use Google’s Magic Editor AI image editing tool for free! If you own a Google Pixel device then use is unlimited, otherwise you will be limited to saving 10 edited images (unless you pay for a Google One 2TB plan or above). It’s a great way to be able to try out these photo AI editing tools and see if you find them useful.
So what can Google’s Magic Editor AI do? Let’s take a look.
Magic Eraser
Magic Eraser provides an easy way to tidy up your photos while having fun in the process – it’s a pretty neat trick to show off on your phone. Although you don’t want to go too far with your erasing powers or you can be left with a bit of a blurry mess. Great for removing the odd bit of clutter or unwanted objects caught in your shot, or to remove photo bombers that have sneaked into the frame.
Magic Editor
The Magic Editor itself allows you to move objects around which is perfect if you want to adjust your images to fit social media ratios. It also uses generative AI that fills in any gaps left too.
Photo Unblur
Photo Unblur does exactly what it says on the tin using a combination of Denoise and Sharpen tools to make your photos pop.
Portrait Light
Portraits can be tricky when it comes to lighting which is where this feature comes in. It balances the light in your photos so no matter where you place yourself against the backdrop, your portrait is well-lit.
Sky Replacement
Sometimes the perfect day needs the perfect blue sky and this Google AI editing tool can deliver that for you. Not only does Sky Replacement change the dreary to the dreamy, it also enhances the lighting of the scene to match the new ‘scape. Pretty impressive.
