Introduction
The Galaxy S23, on which the Galaxy S23 FE is based, was one of the most game changing phones of 2023. With its top of the range processor, massive battery and 50MP (megapixel) camera array, it shares a lot of the exciting features usually only available in the Ultra versions of the series.
Samsung has refined and built on these features for the Samsung S23 FE to produce a feature-packed masterpiece for a fraction of the price.
Design
The S23 took its design from the Ultra model rather than the standard S22, trading the contour cut camera module for a minimalist array of three camera lenses.
The S23 FE looks virtually identical to the S23 but closer inspection reveals that it has a larger screen (6.4 inches compared to 6.1 inches). It also comes in mint, graphite, cream and purple compared to the S23’s more classic colour spectrum.
The S23 FE is reinforced with Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides for durability and has an IP68 rating for dust and drip protection.
The S23 FE boasts an immersive audio experience with two speakers and dual mics.
Camera
The S23 was lauded for its incredible camera array and the S23 FE is blessed with most of the same setup. Clever AI including Nightography allows you to capture stunning photos in low light and you can even sharpen older photos with tools such as Photo Remaster.
Hardware-wise you are looking at a 50 MP wide-angle, a 12MP ultrawide, 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and 10MP selfie camera.
Video
The Galaxy S23 FE is able to shoot video up to a whopping 8K at 30fps (frames per second) which ensures exceptionally smooth footage even if you are running around. Super Steady video mode provides a digital steadicam which stops you getting shaky results, even at night.
Display
The larger display on the S23 FE, plus Eye Comfort Shield which reduces blue light makes scrolling and gaming a joy on this smartphone. Vision Booster adjusts the screen to achieve optimal colour precision and contrast against ambient lighting conditions.
The S23 FE is also equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate. This makes scrolling silky smooth, while super fast and precise touch response delivers a more reactive gaming experience.
Processor
To run a smartphone as feature packed as the S23 FE, there needs to be a powerful chipset under the hood. Thankfully, the S23 FE has the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor on board plus 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. Thanks to its chip, the Galaxy S23 FE also brings advanced connectivity features like Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. It also supports superfast 5G.
Battery
The S23 has a more than ample battery size at 3900mAh but the S23 FE has an even larger one at 4500mAh. When it comes to charging, there are different charging speeds and the S23 FE will charge at 25 watts wired and at 15 watts wirelessly, plus 4.5 watt reverse wireless charging allows you to share your power with other compatible devices such as your mate’s phone or your earbuds.
Colours & Options
As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE comes in mint, graphite, cream and purple with 128GB or 256GB storage options.
